Charis Around the World

Tidbits From Ebony

Mother and son in Ebony

Happy Mother's Day Month, Charis Family!!!!

This month has got me thinking about some birthing situations in Ebony.  Especially with the online movement for "No Mother's Day."

Did you see it?  If not, here is the link:  No Mothers Day

I'm glad for the efforts to raise awareness in this area, but I fully believe in not wasting the chance to celebrate the living!!  So, I celebrated my mama on Mother's Day, even though I deeply care about this issue.

This Mother's Day month has me thinking about the following questions as they relate to birth in Ebony:

What is it like to give birth in a war zone?

What is it like to give birth in a prison?

What is it like to give birth in poverty?

What is it like to give birth as an illegal refugee in a land not your own?

I hope that, over the next few months, I'm able to just share briefly my thoughts on these questions and give you a glimpse into the situations of far too many women in Ebony.

I encourage you to think about and imagine what your own answers might be to these questions.  Why does it matter for us to put ourselves in someone else's shoes like this?

All you Mothers out there..........and those of you born of a woman......

(that should cover all of us except the Martians, right?).....

HAPPY MOTHER'S MONTH!!!!!

Much Love,
EC

'Behold, I will bring them from the north country, And gather them from the ends of the earth,
Among  them the blind and the lame, The woman with child and The one who labors with child,  together,
A great throng shall return there...And My people shall be satisfied with My goodness, says the LORD.'
