Sarah's baby
Hey friends,
I have a really cool story from this last month! Many of you, if you have been
following me on Facebook know that in October I had the opportunity to attend
three births in one week. The last of the three was with a Syrian family that I
am connected with and I got to deliver a beautiful little girl at the hospital
where I worked in August. That day I had been visiting family members of the
pregnant lady (we'll call her Sarah) and they asked me to stay longer, but I
told them I was exhausted and needed to go home.
Later that night, just as I was getting ready to get in bed, I got a call from
this family asking me to go to the hospital to be with Sarah. So I get up, get
dressed, and go to the hospital to labour with her. It was the most beautiful
birth I had attended in this hospital, full of peace. Although Sarah didn't
labour for long, I ended up spending the night at the hospital, because I could
not go home at night by myself. To me, all of this was normal, just a simple way
to love on a family.
I was surprised when I visited the family a few days later and Sarah's aunt
invited me over to her house after seeing the mom and baby. She told me, "I knew
you were a person who loved God because after you told us you were exhausted,
you came in the night to be with us. I don't know anyone else who would do that
for us." I was shocked by her words, and humbled. I got to share with her about
how it is not good deeds that get us to heaven and the only way to be clean
before God is the sacrifice of Jesus. She was open to my words and received
everything I had to say. I gave her a bible and she said to me that she had been
waiting for the opportunity to read the bible.
In the car with my visiting partner, we were moved to tears. We love on people
on a regular basis, but it is such a joy when a little act of love (and the gift
of midwifery!) can open a heart.
Thank you for all you do in partnership with me that can make moments like this
happen! Jesus is doing great things. May God move our hearts to love deeply and
show it in the little things we do.
For the King and His Kingdom!

Thanks, Love and Blessings to every one of you!
'Behold, I will bring them from the north country, And gather them
from the ends of the earth,
Among them the blind and the lame,
The woman with child and The one who labors with child, together,
A
great throng shall return there...And My people shall be satisfied with My goodness, says the LORD.'
