It’s been a fun
month to be a Charis midwifery student! First, I had the great joy of
hosting Holly Findley, who I met last year at the Charis Teaching Birth workshop
in Florida. Holly is a missionary midwife in South Sudan and she came to
stay with us for a couple days during her mandatory break from the very
challenging work she is doing there. It was such a blessing to get to
spoil her, share stories, and chat about all things birthy….and not(=
Also, thanks to the oversight of Lucy, I am serving my very first private mamas.
It’s been so much fun to get to be on this journey with them and to see them
through their entire pregnancies from the very beginning. It’s quite a
contrast to just showing up at the TBA’s house during the labor of a woman I’ve
never met before! Lucy and I did one of the private client’s prenatal
visits together this month and it was such a special, blessed time. I am
so thankful and honored to be working and serve with Lucy and so very
excited for many exciting things we have planned to do together in the very near
future.
Indeed, a whole new world of serving mamas and their families is opening up to
me, in large part thanks to Lucy. I’m so thankful I serve a God who makes
my path straight.
My mentor, Lucy
Muchiri, is a Registered Nurse Midwife here in Nairobi, the capital city of
Kenya. Enjoy reading more about her in the
August 2013 Charis newsletter.

'Behold, I will bring them from the north country, And gather them
from the ends of the earth,
Among them the blind and the lame,
The woman with child and The one who labors with child, together,
A
great throng shall return there...And My people shall be satisfied with My goodness, says the LORD.'
