Charis Ministry PDF E-mail

The heart of Charis beats for the lost around the world.  We are taking our passion for birthing families and babies and using it to bless them, develop relationships with them, and to share the love of Jesus with them.

A missionary friend of Charis shared once that if people do not develop a realtionship with Jesus by their early teens, the next time in their lives that they are kristinannesokol.jpgstatistically more open to the Gospel is when they are having babies. If that is the case, what a great opportunity we have to impact families here in the US and around the world!

It makes perfect sense, then, for a woman on the mission field to serve as a midwife to her community.  Serving in that capacity impacts a commiunity in many ways.  First, it is a very practical way to positively influence birthing practices in places where moms and babies are needlessly suffering or dying due to poor health care.  Next, because midwives are often respected leaders within a community, they can influence other leaders in that community.  Also, it provides a way for missionaries to easily develop close, meaningful relationships with people.

Missionaries are not the only Charis ministers.  Charis Certified Childbirth Educators and Doulas are now serving on staff and as volunteers in Crisis Pregnancy Centers.  The addition of doula services and Charis childbirth education to the services already provided through the Centers has met a need there that Kristin Schuchmann discovered through one of the young pregnant teens she helped in the early 1990s.  The girl said to her, "I'm glad the ladies at the Center are trying to teach me how to bond with my baby, but I just can't focus on that right now.  I'm just so scared about how this big baby is going to fit out that little hole."  In the Centers that have implemented the excellent Charis Childirth Preparation Series, the women and girls now have answers to their questions, can conquer their fears, and can focus on falling in love with their babies.

Whether serving as a missionary, humanitarian worker, in a crisis pregnancy center, or in a childbirth business, Charis childbirth educators, doulas, and midwives are equipped and ready to take advantage of daily opportunities to share the love of Jesus with their clients.

“Behold, I will bring them from the north country, and gather them from the ends of the earth,
Among them the blind and the lame, the woman with child and the one who labors with child, together;
A great throng shall return there...
And My people shall be satisfied with My goodness, says the LORD.”
Jeremiah 31:8-14 (NKJV)
