Our Charis Family
Lisa Kreinbrook
Lisa and her sons, Seth and Judah
I am honored and
excited to share a little update with you! My
first introduction to the Charis family was in the
May 2012 newsletter, before I started the Charis
Midwifery program in July 2012. The last 2 years
have been quite a ride. I have worked both as a
doula and a midwifery assistant and am honored to be
a part of each family’s season and journey through
childbirth.
Having completed the first 12 modules of the Charis
midwifery course, I not only learned so much about
serving both childbearing women and their families,
but I have also learned how much I do not know!
I am excited to continue and hope I never lose the
passion for learning and growing. I have been
honored to complete the Charis Lactation Counselor
course. If you are considering it, know that it is a
wonderful opportunity to help moms build a healthy
breastfeeding relationship with their little ones.
These experiences take the Charis bookwork and make
it come alive, exactly how it’s supposed to be!
My husband David and I celebrated our 20th
anniversary this past March. David has been a
chiropractor longer than we have been married and
has always loved helping pregnant moms, babies and
children. In October of 2013 he had the
opportunity to become Webster Certified, giving him
more skills to help pregnant moms ensure their
bodies are in alignment so they can have the best
chance for an easier labor. I had the honor of
attending the Webster certification class and
enjoyed it immensely. (See the January 2014
newsletter for the article about
Chiropractic and Midwifery.)
Our oldest son, Judah, graduated high school in
November of 2013. He has become an EMT and
works in an ambulatory service. He plans on
attending paramedic training in January, with
further wishes to become an RN so he can be a flight
medic/nurse on the emergency helicopters. My
youngest son, Seth, is a freshman this year with his
current interests being statistics, botany
(specifically herbs at the moment) and the culinary
arts. We have homeschooled both of them, and
love the way it works with our family.
One challenge is over the past 2 years David has
daily commuted about 1 ˝ hours south of Ocala, where
we have lived most of the 12 years we have been in
Florida. Many of my doula clients live 45 minutes
north of Ocala, so my husband and I couldn’t
refer interested clients to each other. Luckily,
there are qualified chiropractors in my area, but I
really believe my husband has a gift with
chiropractic and would love to refer my clients to
him.
This led us to move a little farther south. We
began the process in March. There have been twists,
turns, roadblocks and more. We needed to be
out of our current house by mid-July, but we had
nowhere to move. Fortunately, we have some
gracious friends with an RV hookup on their
property, so we have been living in our RV: my
husband and I, two sons (ages 14 and 19) our cat and
120 lb. dog. It has been a challenge, but is
still definitely a “first-world problem”.
Earlier this month we found 2 possible properties,
but they were a little farther north than we had
anticipated. One was eliminated immediately,
but the other was ideal and in some ways better than
the one we were waiting for. After weighing
the pros and cons we made an offer and it was
accepted! After weeks of living out of boxes
we once again have a home that is not on wheels.
Although smaller than our previous home, it seems
like a mansion in comparison to the RV!
Being a little farther south will put me closer to
the Tampa and Orlando birth communities. And
even more exciting, a bit closer to Kristin
Schuchmann! I am so excited to continue my
Charis Midwifery course; it is as much of a
challenge as I anticipated, but loving every second
of it! Everything I study makes me more in awe
and amazed at the miraculous creations of our Lord!
The intricacies of how He weaves everything together
intrigues me to know Him more. There
are still many unknowns in my midwifery journey, but
Charis is a God-given part of my journey and I am
extremely grateful. I am convinced He will
finish what He started for His glory.

'Behold, I will
bring them from the north country, And gather them from the ends of
the earth,
Among them the blind and the lame,
The woman with child and The one who labors with child, together,
A
great throng shall return there...And My people shall be satisfied with My goodness, says the LORD.'
Jeremiah 31:8, 14
