Charis Around the World

Tidbits From Ebony
by Elizabeth Carmichael

Dear Charis Family,

Greetings from one of the regional areas where many, many Pushpins live.  You have spent many newsletters reading about and praying for me while I lived in this particular region.  Please take a moment now to pause and remember the tens of millions of Pushpin women who do not know the One who knits their children together in their wombs.

Please specifically pray for these two issues this month:

Cleftie Cutie--after a week in a malnutrition clinic, the nomadic Pushpin family of a cleft palate child could not sustain the inconvenience of having Cutie and his mother gone from the home.  They brought him back to the village.  A few weeks ago, at eight months of age, he still weighed less than ten pounds.  Please pray that, even though they had to bring him back to his village, that he would continue to grow strong enough to get his surgery. There is a hospital that offers the surgery for free.  Please pray for them, for God to continue to provide for their work and for the hundreds of children coming through to have their cleft palates corrected so that they don't die of malnutrition.

Twins--Please lift up the nomadic mother with twins.  We have been encouraging her in her breastfeeding process and encouraging people to help her weigh her baby once a week.  I haven't been able to follow up on her as I would have liked in the past few weeks, so please just ask that her babies would grow big and strong.  We had to go through a reporting process this week to a very reputable humanitarian organization because they run the clinic where she delivered her twins and one of the local doctors tried to pressure her into selling her baby to the doctor.  Please ask that, as that organization and we work to assure the family that this was wrong and unjust treatment, the community would not stop going to the clinic for their health care needs which are dire.

As you pray for situations like this, do you realize that you are praying for more than the health and wealth of destitute families????  The men of this village have HAILED the NGO and project staff just because we have helped with their little babies.  When they esteem us and receive our input and help, their hearts are open to the fullness of all we would like to see them gain.  As you pray, you are changing their lives and inviting the Lord in, asking His Kingdom to come on earth as it is in heaven.

Please keep praying.......

Much Love,
Elizabeth C

'Behold, I will bring them from the north country, And gather them from the ends of the earth,
Among  them the blind and the lame, The woman with child and The one who labors with child,  together,
A great throng shall return there...And My people shall be satisfied with My goodness, says the LORD.'
