Charis "Communication, Teaching, and Coaching" Workshop

Was held Saturday, Tuesday, February 18, 2014

At LifeSong Midwifery in North Port, Florida

Terri Henady, Gingah Gardner, Caramel Gray,
Kristin Schuchmann holding little Betsy Kuntze and Andrea Kuntze

We spent the day making new friends and becoming more skilled in preparing effective introductions, asking powerful questions, creating a learner-friendly environment, capturing the attention of learners, helping clients embrace their responsibility of making informed decisions, and so much more.

In addition to the valuable skills acquired at the workshop, we also took home with us an assortment of visual aids and other valuable teaching tools to enhance our future students’ learning experience.

Early Tuesday morning, everyone is ready for a great day at the workshop.

This workshop gave me greater knowledge and provided me with the information and tools needed to serve families within the birthing community.  Kristin is an excellent teacher and communicator who seeks to empower us as students to serve others with confidence and compassion.  Coming here has been a great blessing and very beneficial to my training as a doula/CE and Lord willing, midwife.

Little Betsy is calm and peaceful snug in her mother's arms.
Baby wearing makes it perfect for Andrea Kuntze to
discuss how to create a “safe” environment for learning.

Our goals as birth professionals are not to provide answers, but to help clients find or discover their answers within, thus instilling confidence and encouragement in their journey.
~Ginjah Gardner, Charis CE/Doula Student

Andrea coming up with brilliant introductions.

Great hands-on experience that can be applied to any type of workshop or conversation with clients.  The printed information is a good tool and I was continuously "hooked".  Learning how to really ask questions during conversations with clients, friends or family members is very important.  During this class I have learned how to alter these questions to make others feel empowered.
~Andrea Kuntze, our new Charis Administrative Assistant

Caramel understanding, it all makes so much sense!

Andrea is learning to ask powerful questions
that help clients get to the heart of the matter and confidently make informed choices.

We did lots of laughing!

I really appreciated the practical approaches to teaching.  After learning about effective introductions, "hooks" and activities I can incorporate into my classes, I feel much more confident in designing class courses and teaching them.  The information on effective communication will help me serve my clients better in the future.
~Terri Henady, Charis CE/Doula Student

Kristin loves the "hooks" the students are coming up with!

'Behold, I will bring them from the north country, And gather them from the ends of the earth,
Among  them the blind and the lame, The woman with child and The one who labors with child,  together,
A great throng shall return there...And My people shall be satisfied with My goodness, says the LORD.'
