Missions Trip

Papua New Guinea

Randy and Kristin Paulus

Hello Charis friends , I'm Kristin Paulus, a Charis midwifery student.  It's been wonderful to be a part of this family and work alongside all the other students.

My husband, Randy, and I have three beautiful blessings.  Randalyn age 7, Autumn age 4, and Nikayla age 20 months! We currently live in the south western part of Ohio, in the country where we have sort of a "mini" farm.  For the past 9 years God has been working in our hearts and lives to go into the mission field to serve in Papua New Guinea, the country where my husband grew up. My husband was born and raised on the mission field and he has felt for a long time that we are to go back to PNG and serve there. He is not a preacher and our way of serving will be a little different than the norm. Our focus will be on reaching the people through midwifery along with my husband’s skills as a carpenter and mechanic. We are still in the place where we feel God is teaching us and molding us for long term use. In preparation for our long term service in PNG, we are thrilled at the opportunity to possibly go to PNG and serve on a short term basis very soon.

This past week Randy was contacted about a current need for our skills in PNG for the month of April. They are looking for a mechanic to come for a short term trip to PNG to serve on a missions school compound and while there, I would have the awesome and wonderful opportunity to serve the surrounding villages in doula and childbirth care. The native women are often left to themselves in this area of their lives, giving birth in the bush alone and with no assistance or care during the beautiful miracle of childbirth. The clinics that are set up in the bush area are in great need and have been looking for help in the way of midwives, etc. The Need is GREAT! But our God is GREATER! Please pray for us as we seek to know if this is something God would have us to do right now.

The finances it would take to go are mind boggling. Just to be able to go for 4 weeks the month of April, tickets and all, we would be looking at $14,000.00. An amount that we have no way to give, but as my husband and I were talking, is just a drop in the hat to our Lord! He who merely speaks things into being. This short term trip would be a great honor and introduction into what will one day be a long term lifestyle for us. Please, please pray that God will provide in this area, whether He chooses to use us at this time or provides another avenue!

Thank you,
Randy and Kristin, Randalyn, Autumn and Nikayla Paulus

'Behold, I will bring them from the north country, And gather them from the ends of the earth,
Among  them the blind and the lame, The woman with child and The one who labors with child,  together,
A great throng shall return there...And My people shall be satisfied with My goodness, says the LORD.'
