Dear Charis Family,

Well, the big news this month is that I have, quite unexpectedly, become ENGAGED TO BE MARRIED!!!!!  I need to write a long update with the whole story, but, in short—a sweet man I have known since I was 17 suddenly had an “aha” moment in December when I spoke at his church here in the United States.  He called me up on Christmas Day to declare his love for me, and, since we have such a strong and longstanding foundation of friendship, this whole ball has just rolled really fast.  We got engaged on January 18 and I couldn’t be happier, although my life is taking a dramatic and unexpected turn.  I won’t be returning to Ebony in the same capacity as I thought I would this month.  God is doing something new and it is exciting, but also SUCH a gracious, gracious gift.

I need to take a little break from doing Tidbits for a short while so that I can figure out my life and plan my wedding!!!! :-)  Woot! Woot!

I love and appreciate all of you.  Please pray for me as, for the first time in MANY years, I am going to be a doula in the USA for a couple giving birth in mid-February in Washington DC.  If any of you are in that area, please do send me a line.  Also, I covet your prayers as I look for a job.  I have no income right now, which is a bit scary, yet I know God has led me in all these decisions.

I hope to share more details with you in the coming months.  Thanks for letting me have a little break and for keeping me in your prayers.
