Our Charis Family

Hey! My name is Emilie. I am 23
years old and working as a missionary in the Muslim
country of Jordan.
I am currently doing a community
research program to learn more about maternal health
standards, education levels and how women in the
community feel about the care they receive during
pregnancy, birth and postpartum. I feel like
God has called me to connect the dots between health
care and church planting, so I'm using this research
as a tool to get into people's lives and, if they're
open, share the gospel.
Growing up, I wanted to be just like my Aunt, who
was a neonatal nurse. Midwifery is not far
off, I guess, and is the perfect fit for me.
In the year 2010, I did a direct entry, year long
midwifery program through Youth With a Mission.
While we were in Tanzania completing our field work,
a group of us ventured up to Kenya and met your very
own Jannekah Guya, who introduced me to Charis.
After reading about the vision and the heart of the
school, I decided that someday I would like to
continue my education with Charis, and become a
Registered Midwife. For now, the focus of my
time remains on realizing the vision that God has
given to my team and I: to see communities of
believers following Jesus in loving obedience,
multiplying throughout Aqaba (my city), the South of
Jordan and beyond!

'Behold, I will
bring them from the north country, And gather them from the ends of
the earth,
Among them the blind and the lame,
The woman with child and The one who labors with child, together,
A
great throng shall return there...And My people shall be satisfied with My goodness, says the LORD.'
Jeremiah 31:8, 14
