McKenna Smith
Greetings to everyone
in the Name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!
I am McKenna Smith, daughter, sister, and lover of
my King! He has filled my life with so many good
things including five precious siblings. I live with
my family on a small ranch in northeastern Texas.
Making music, walks at sunset, family discussions,
writing, discipling fellow sisters, and time with my
Lord are a few of the varied ways I enjoy spending
my days.
Our Lord is so faithful and He has made this more
and more evident to me throughout this last year. I
have had the great blessing of being homeschooled
and graduated from high school early this spring. My
parents and siblings are certainly some of the
sweetest gifts in my life! Their prayers and support
as I have entered into this new season of life have
been treasured. God has also made it evident to me
what a blessing the bends in the road are…simply
because they keep me in a constant state of
dependence upon Him, without Whom I can do nothing.
As I prepared to graduate, much time was spent
thinking about how the Lord would have me investing
my time after graduation. I would love to follow the
Biblical norm of becoming a wife and mother one day,
but my ultimate goal is to live a life of complete
sacrifice, poured out for our Savior. With this in
mind, I did not want a single moment wasted. And yet
the Lord graciously brought me to a place of
conviction. Surprised and grieved, I realized that
though my thoughts had been in the right place,
(desiring His best for me), my prayers had been long
in coming. At this point, I really strove to seek
the Lord’s will for my future. To be sure, I have
many different interests including music, writing,
history, etc… but I really wanted to only invest
myself in what He would have for me.
Just as my prayers increased, the Lord made it clear
to me that spending any spare moments looking for
venues in which to minister would be a valuable use
of my time. Since I was a very young girl, God gave
me a great compassion and heaviness of heart for
those girls who have not yet experienced the
overwhelming and endless grace of God. So many of
these young ladies sadly end up in places such as
pregnancy crisis centers in need of medical
assistance, and wise guidance, but most importantly
love and grace. Since midwifery has always claimed a
place in my heart as well, it is no surprise the
Lord led me down a path of further research. (When I
was younger, I had the joy and honor of attending
the births of three of my younger siblings. These
experiences proved to enhance my interest that much
more.) It was through some online research, that I
came across Charis Childbirth. I have probably read
every page on the site by now. And can truly say
that I see Christ as the focal point, the One
through Whom and for Whom all things are done. After
more prayer, conversations with my parents, and
visiting with Susan Oshel, the Lord has led me to
begin the CE/Doula track this fall. I am thrilled
about all that God has to teach me through this
education and the sweet community that I have found
here!
Our God is always faithful! He proved this to me yet
again when He placed the pieces of the puzzle
together for further ministry. The Church my family
and I attend has recently begun offering Christian
Counseling Training, and it is my prayer that the
Lord would open up the doors to allow me to use this
training at pregnancy crisis centers in addition to
the doula/childbirth educator services. Praying for
His wisdom and grace as I pursue His best. Your
prayers would be such a blessing to me as well!
God’s sovereignty and mercy are evident in every
area of life…and so He is more than worthy of our
complete trust. Even during seasons when it is hard
to know what “comes next” He will faithfully reveal
His plans in His timing and for His purposes. I am
confident He will grant me many more opportunities
to see this in action throughout my life!
May our Lord richly bless each of you as you seek
His perfect will!
~ ‘Though you have
not seen Him, you love Him. Though you do not now
see Him, you believe in Him and rejoice with joy
that is inexpressible and filled with glory,
obtaining the outcome of your faith, the salvation
of your souls.’ 1 Peter 1:8-9 ~
Grace and peace in Christ,
McKenna
