Charis “Labor Support” Workshop
Saturday, October 03, 2015
9 a.m. – 6 p.m.
At
LifeSong Midwifery
in
North Port, Florida
For
childbirth educators, doulas, midwives, or anyone who would like to improve her
ability to support laboring women.
At our workshops, learning is interactive, hands-on, fun, and interesting. All
Charis workshops are taught from a Christian perspective, giving God the glory
for His marvelous creation and how He so wonderfully created women to bear
children.
You will spend the day making new friends and becoming more skilled in putting
to use many techniques to bring a woman comfort during each phase of labor,
understanding the science behind why the comfort measures work, creating an
environment conducive to the natural progression of labor, recognizing when a
woman is beginning to panic and helping her regain control, gently encouraging a
woman to effectively push out her baby while taking advantage of the natural
physiology of second stage, assisting a woman in breastfeeding for the very
first time, and so much more.
In addition to the valuable skills acquired at the workshop, you will also take
home with you a beautiful “labor support bag” filled with an assortment of tools
to help you successfully support, serve, and bring comfort to your future
clients as they labor.
A delicious lunch will be provided for all the workshop attendees to enjoy as
you get to know each other better during a midday break.
The cost is $225 for Charis members and $255 for non-members (includes one-year
Charis membership).
Registration Closed - Workshop Full
Looking forward to seeing everyone!

Our Director's Heart
Rachel Thompson and her devoted husband,
Derek
Welcoming Charis Coach Rachel Thompson back
from her Babymoon!
We are super excited to announce that, after taking a sabbatical to care for the
newest member of her family, Charis certified childbirth educator and doula
Rachel Thompson is stepping back into the saddle of coaching Charis childbirth
educator and doula students. Rachel is not only a skilled, compassionate
childbirth educator and doula, but also a gifted teacher and coach to the next
generation of birth professionals. Our students are enormously blessed to have
such a wonderful mentor and role model.
Over the years, I have grown to love Rachel very much and to appreciate her pure
heart of devoted compassion from which she serves expectant families. I am not
the only one, however, who noticed how wonderful she is! I think it was about
six or seven years ago that I received a note from the hospital administration
where Rachel would often provide doula services asking for the names of Charis
certified doulas in the area. They said they already knew of Rachel Thompson and
were hoping there were more doulas like her to which they could refer patients.
That hospital’s staff saw in her exactly what my heart desires for all of our
students; and I can’t think of a better way to impart those things than for
Rachel to be their coach and the one they emulate!
Welcome back, Rachel! Our students are in for such a treat as you share your
heart and wisdom and gently draw out the beauty already within each of them.
Love and blessings,
Kristin Schuchmann, LM, CPM
Executive Director, Charis Childbirth, Inc.
