A Dream Come True
in Ukraine

Vitaliy & Anne Sokol
When
I was a teen, I dreamed of having a home in Russia for ladies in
crisis pregnancies—a place where they could continue their
studies, live happily, learn about God, and have their babies—I
was going to be their midwife. Also in this dream of mine, I had
a husband and twelve children!
I laugh now remembering the idealism and even romanticism of my
ideas, but . . . it actually might happen! Well, I’m not so sure
about the 12 kids and we live in Ukraine and not Russia, but
recently, I found out that a home for ladies in crisis
pregnancies is about to start here in Kiev and not far from us!
This group of Christians started a very nice Christian orphanage
several years ago, and they have several other projects on their
horizon. Having a refuge/home for women in crisis pregnancies
has been on the director’s heart since the beginning. Recently
this group acquired an old Communist pioneer camp which they
plan to remodel and use for several projects, this home
included.
Vitaliy and I went and spoke with one of the directors, and at
this time they need people to help with the start-up and
organization of this project. I’ve offered my services and
started researching the many realms where organizational
decisions will need to be made, like the legal issues
surrounding minors, accepting clients with AIDS, rehabilitation
and counseling programs, schooling, birth, etc.
Please pray with me about this opportunity! I’m really excited
about what the Lord is doing!

Tidbits from Ebony
First of all, THANK YOU for those of you who joined in prayer
for my language teacher, Pleasant, and her daughter who was
experiencing some health problems after the deliver of her
eighth child.
My co-workers and I had a tremendous time visiting their home
last week. Because I'm battling some sickness right now, I am
going to write about our experiences there in next month's
newsletter. But, I did want to update you and let you know that
God IS at work. Please keep praying for Pleasant and her family.
Below is a prayer for the Pushpin people that I wrote recently.
Please use it to inspire your prayers for people all over the
globe.
All my love,
Elizabeth Carmichael
Lord, I humble myself now under Your mighty and gracious hand. I
ask You to have mercy on the PUSHPIN people. You are the maker
of heaven and earth and You have made these people for Your
glory, just like every other people group on the earth. Lord,
Your word says that, as Your people commit their ways to You and
trust You--that You WILL act. We ask You now to let Your light
shine as the noonday upon the PUSHPINs and all the other peoples
dwelling, working, finding refuge or warring in this land. That
light alone, YOUR light is their only hope. Lord, You have
promised to exalt the righteous to inherit the land. You say
that we will look on when the wicked is cut off. Give us the
salvation of the PUSHPINs as our inheritance, Lord. May their
hearts be opened to believe and be saved. May THEY look on with
their own eyes and see Your deliverance.
For the sake of Your great name, vindicate Your holiness among
the PUSHPIN people, Jesus. Pour Your clean water over them and
cleanse them from their sins. Free them from their bondage to
pride, to Islam, to war and oppression. In Your grace, as a
great display of Your mercy, give them clean hearts and a new
Spirit! From men, women and children remove the heart of stone
and give them a heart of flesh--a heart tender toward Your Word,
a heart to understand Your ways and to embrace and treasure Your
Son above ALL other things. Lord, we hasten the day when You
will put Your Spirit within them and cause them to walk in Your
statutes and obey Your rules. Oh God, bring the day when they
will dwell safely in the land allotted to them and there they
will be Your people and You will be their God! Let all the
peoples of the earth stand in awe and worship of You because of
what they hear You are doing among the PUSHPINs, Lord.
Finally, precious Father, we want to be known as Your children,
we want to be holy as You are holy, we want to obey Your
teaching and we want to love with the love of the Spirit, not
the love of our flesh. Because of these things, we ask for You
to give grace to Your people so that we might love those among
the PUSHPIN people who consider themselves our enemies, or whom
we feel are our enemies. We ask for grace from Your hand, that
we might know how to pray for those who persecute Your children.
We cry out to You in intercession for the oppressed and the
oppressor both because You are worthy of the praise of EVERY
tongue.
May the news of Your Son be esteemed and spread rapidly among
every PUSHPIN tribe. May Your children display Your steadfast
character as we seek to proclaim Your Truth among them. May the
eyes of every PUSHPIN believer and every believer who loves
PUSHPINs be fixed upon You alone. You--seated on Your throne,
gentle and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast
love, with all authority in heaven and earth. May Your presence
that is with us always shine forth from these jars of clay and
effect eternal change even when it seems impossible. Your word
spoken into their hearts is what we wait for: "Let there be
light!" The knowledge of the glory of the Lord that we see in
the face of Jesus Christ, and that we long for them to see
with us, is worth it all, Lord.

Be blessed (where You have never been blessed before)
Be loved (where no one has ever loved You before)
Be lifted high (where Your name has never been KNOWN, much less
lifted high)
Be treasured here (above all other treasures)
Be glorified (as the waters cover the sea, let Your glory cover
this desert land)
I owe my life to You, my Lord
Here I am ...
