What a blessed
and educational time we all had at the Charis “Communication, Teaching, and
Coaching” Workshop!
The ladies
spent
the day making new friends and becoming more skilled in preparing effective
introductions, asking powerful questions, creating a learner-friendly
environment, capturing the attention of learners, helping clients embrace
their responsibility of making informed decisions, and so much more.
In addition to the valuable skills acquired at the workshop, they also took
home an assortment of visual aids and other valuable teaching tools to
enhance their future students’ learning experience.
Friday evening some of the workshop attendees took a sunset stroll on the beach after dinner
at Café Evergreen in Nokomis,
FL in anticipation to a
good night's rest in preparation for a full day of learning adventure bright
and early the next morning!
Sunset at Nokomis Beach Friday
after dinner.
Everyone getting a tour of Lifesong's beautiful facility where they will
spend the day
during their Charis "Communication, Teaching and Coaching" workshop.
Ready to begin, the ladies meet and
greet.
And now! Rearranging the room
to create a creative and comfortable learning environment.
Kristin Schuchmann enjoys every moment of the workshop's activities
and loves our amazing and brilliant students!
Madeline
French deeply involved in "listening skills".

Today's
workshop was such a blessing! I learned how to communicate
better and how to connect with my future clients. I also enjoyed
connecting with the other ladies here and getting a little peek
into their lives and hearts. Each moment was precious and I
can't wait for the next workshop!

Good
conversation between
Brooke Boisvert and
Emily Palisano.

There is a wealth of knowledge that I took away from this
workshop. The biggest thing I learned was how to ask powerful
questions in the right way - empowering others to come to their
own solutions, not coming up with a solution for them.

I was
especially challenged in the "Asking Powerful Questions" part of
the workshop. Practicing to "resist" the "urge to tell" was one
of the hardest things for me. I love the concept and will
continue to integrate it into my work. I truly believe it will
enhance my abilities as a doula and person. I
enjoyed so very much meeting God's lovely people. I feel so
privileged to be part of "Charis". I also learned that a good
hook can be fun. I have too many favorite parts of this workshop
I LOVE IT ALL!!!!

Learning Charis style!

What I found
particularly useful is the importance of acquiring
information from client's from the very beginning of our
relationship, speaking in an engaging and interactive manner
and connecting deeply with clients, going the extra mile!

Charis Doula/CE/LC student |
Contemplating the "I CAN"
can.
Enjoying the food and company as the
ladies get to know each other better during their
midday break.
Our chef served crisp spring green
salad with walnut gremolata; granny smith apple and white whine
vinaigrette; french onion soup; french baguette paired with a roasted
red pepper and herb compound butter and deconstructed apple tarte tatin
with whipped topping for lunch.
Opening workshop gifts!

Learning to listen, love and bless our women by giving them
opportunities to learn and think for themselves is something
beautiful! So beautiful!! I am thankful for the precious
women here who are truly striving to move each other closer
to Jesus, our only source of everything! Thankful for a
quality education provided for a reasonable, wonderful price
while facilitating so much spiritual growth. I learned so
much about sculpting an environment that is safe
and perfect for learning. It is exciting to see so many
passionate women being equipped to equip.
Atmosphere is everything; I am thankful for experiencing a
learning environment that helped ME learn; thereby in the
future helping others learn. Love is essential for learning
and love is only through Christ. I am so thankful ...
for Charis ... for Kristin ... for Christ's love that
enables it all!

The way Kristin Schuchmann teaches makes you think and
learn SO MUCH! Today was full of so many helpful, yet
simple tips and tricks. This was a very practical
class and has addressed so many questions about running
a business and building meaningful relationships, both
in the business world and the every day family and
friend relationships.

Lots of wisdom shared!

Great review of communication techniques! I enjoyed the
workshop.~

What I will benefit mostly from today's workshop is how wording
of questions is important and holding the space for our clients.
Also creating a learning environment, being self-aware and how
to serve others more effectively!

Learning
about the different kinds of questions to ask and how to ask
them effectively was so helpful, important to know how to ask in
a way that makes women feel safe and valued. I had many
misconceptions cleared up and questions answered by Kristin
Schuchmann's fabulous instruction! I so appreciate how she ties
everything to scripture and our walk with Christ. Although it
seems obvious, it was good to be reminded that, without Christ,
we actually can't genuinely care about people and what they are
saying. In addition to all the wonderful spiritual application,
the workshop was full of practical suggestions that will be very
helpful as I move forward!

I loved learning the different techniques you can use to
communicate and actually being able to use them in everyday
life. Learning to identify and communicate better and be
able to ask questions in a way clients can come to their own
conclusions. I really enjoyed getting to know all the
wonderful ladies in this workshop, walking together and
hearing all the wonderful stories and everyone's different
views on things!

Charis Doula/CE student |

Elliot
Enjoying their activities.

The nuggets of gold I received from today's workshop include
tools to be able to communicate, teach and coach more
effectively and learning the art of asking powerful questions. I
love how this isn't just be applied to being a doula or midwife,
etc., but in every day life as well.

We have
so much to learn by listening. As Kristin said, "People have
great ideas! If we can just be quiet long enough, they will get
the courage to speak those great ideas, questions and
solutions." We can grow as expert listeners by following our
curiosity while talking with folks - not following our
diagnosis. Learning about communicating better and becoming
childbirth professionals who empower others helps me remember we
are not just in a ministry of helping people have good and safe
births. We are also in the ministry of helping people hear from
the Lord and grow as humans, as parents, as fellow ministers of
the gospel. ~

Thanks for letting me
join in this wonderful workshop! The session on asking
questions was hugely beneficial to me. What a great group of
women - whose passion and design is to serve other women.

For me the class helped to solidify my decision to take the
Charis doula, childbirth educator and lactation counselor
course. Doing the "role-pay" helped to make the business and
ministry aspects far more real with a deeper understanding of
the value of this work. I am so excited about the future and
what God has in store for me and the women I will serve.

'Behold, I will bring them from the north country, And gather them
from the ends of the earth,
Among them the blind and the lame,
The woman with child and The one who labors with child, together,
A
great throng shall return there...And My people shall be satisfied with My goodness, says the LORD.'
Jeremiah 31:8, 14
