Our Charis Family
Heidi Faith
Heidi and little Evelyn
Hello Charis Family!
I live in Kansas City, MO, and am active in my
church community, teaching maidenhood and birth
education classes. I am usually busy homeschooling,
changing diapers or cooking something that my
husband thinks is too healthy. :)
My favorite ministries are of wife and mother, and I
am blessed with five children, four of whom reside
in our home. Our beloved fourth child was born
via miscarriage and resides in eternity. While
my first child introduced me to God's plan of
supporting families through childbirth, my fourth
child introduced me to God's plan of supporting
families through childbirth specifically when those
children are not alive. At
stillbirthday, we believe a woman is a mother at
conception, and truly, in God's wondrous design, can
be a spiritual mother long before then. We
validate that every baby is born, and every family
deserves to have the most dignifying, gentle and
respectful birth possible.
I'd love for you to tell medical professionals in
your own community about our
Birth & Bereavement (doula) training program, as
it has been approved for 30 nursing contact hours.
A doctor called my baby "debris" and in what are
already easily the darkest days of a mother's life,
she deserves as much care as possible. I am
eternally thankful for the bravery of my fourth
child - he has taught me that giving a bit of light
in the darkest of days isn't about death.
Stillbirthday isn't about death, just as the
Passover truly isn't about death. It's about
life. I wouldn't have been brave enough to
choose this life on my own. My family is the
strong, loving unit it is because of God's greater
vision. Charis has extended an affirming,
sisterly hand, in walking this difficult, blessed
journey with me, and for that, I am thankful.
2013 marks twenty five years of Pregnancy and Infant
Loss Awareness through Proclamation 5890. Let
Charis and stillbirthday join together in leading
the way to helping birth workers around the world
come to know that families giving birth to babies in
any trimester deserve the most dignifying, gentle
and respectful birth experiences possible!
And this is the plan: At the right time He will
bring everything together under the authority of
Christ -- everything in heaven and on earth.
-Ephesians 1:10

Mrs. Schuchmann’s
World Famous
Hot Spiced Cider
My children’s friends request this hot drink
whenever we have gatherings in the winter. They are the
ones who gave this recipe its name. We made it numerous
times over the holidays and thought it would be a good one to
share in this cold month’s newsletter. Enjoy!
8 cups of fresh apple cider
Juice of one orange
Juice of one lime
1 tsp whole cloves
1/8 tsp ground cinnamon
1/8 tsp allspice
1/8 tsp nutmeg
1-inch piece of ginger root, peeled and sliced
3 orange slices (we call them “wheels”)
3 lime slices (wheels)
Cinnamon sticks for garnish
Place all ingredients except cinnamon sticks in crock pot and
simmer on low. Once cider is hot, give it another 5 to 10
minutes to simmer, then serve in mugs with a cinnamon stick.
Variations: Add a tsp of whole peppercorns, add a squeeze
of lemon juice and some lemon wheels, or omit any of the
ingredients to keep it simple.

'Behold, I will
bring them from the north country, And gather them from the ends of
the earth,
Among them the blind and the lame,
The woman with child and The one who labors with child, together,
A
great throng shall return there...And My people shall be satisfied with My goodness, says the LORD.'
Jeremiah 31:8, 14
