9 a.m. – 6 p.m.
at
Birthways Family Birth Center
in Sarasota,
Florida
For childbirth educators, doulas, midwives, or anyone
who would like to improve their ability to communicate
with and educate expectant families.
At our workshops, learning is interactive, hands-on,
fun, and interesting. All Charis workshops are
taught from a Christian perspective, giving God the
glory for His marvelous creation and how He so
wonderfully created women to bear children.
You will spend the day making new friends and becoming
more skilled in preparing effective introductions,
asking powerful questions, creating a learner-friendly
environment, capturing the attention of learners,
helping clients embrace their responsibility of making
informed decisions, and so much more.
In addition to the valuable skills acquired at the
workshop, you will also take home with you an assortment
of visual aids and other valuable teaching tools to
enhance your future students’ learning experience.
A delicious lunch will be provided for all the workshop
attendees to enjoy as you get to know each other better
during a midday break.
The cost is $200 for Charis members and $230 for
non-members (includes one-year Charis membership).

Our
Director's Heart

Joy, Kristin, Todd, Rose, Joel and Eric Schuchmann
Merry
Christmas, Charis Family!
Christmas time is probably my favorite time of the year. I
love the lights, decorations, and family traditions. More than
that, however, is how wonderful it is to celebrate the coming of
Jesus our Messiah and the hope and peace we have because he came.
I find myself this year thinking ahead to Easter and pondering the
fact that Christmas would have no power or significance if it wasn’t
for the fact that, 33 years after Jesus’s birth, He was resurrected
from the dead. So, this Christmas, I am also celebrating
Jesus’s resurrection and the promise of eternal life that God has
made to those who, by faith, receive that gift. There is truly
nothing more exciting to celebrate! I pray that each of you
receives from God a fresh revelation of what an amazing gift He gave
when He came to earth as a baby, lived as an example for all of us
to follow, submitted to the awful death on the cross, and then
triumphantly rose from the grave so that we could live eternally
with Him! That gift, my friends, is what fuels the passion of
my life and is why I do what I do! Thank you, Jesus!
Blessings,
Kristin Schuchmann
Executive Director, Charis Childbirth, Inc.
Exciting announcement from Kristin:
During 2011, Charis hit a record number of both midwifery and ce/doula
students. As the number of Charis students continues to
increase, the need for more administrative and coaching staff grows.
I am giddy excited to announce to the world that the beloved
Rachel
Thompson, Charis certified childbirth educator & doula, is our
newest Charis Coach! Those of you who know Rachel are probably
just as excited as I am about this. As you are all probably
aware, Charis is interested in only hiring the best of the best to
serve our students; and we believe Rachel, with her commitment to
excellence, great skills as a CE & doula, heart to teach and train
others, and genuine love for people, is the perfect addition to our
team. On behalf of the Charis staff and board, I welcome
Rachel Thompson to the wonderful world of Charis Coaching! I
am confident that you will find great joy in passing along the
treasures God has placed inside you as you coach the up and coming
Charis certified childbirth educators/doulas.

past year, your dues have made it financially possible for us to
creatively correspond with people in areas of the world where
internet is spotty at best. Having all forms of communication

birth professionals in the far reaches of the earth. As our
community of members grows, there will be more funds available for
even more world-impacting outreach. Thank you!
Membership is due every December 31
for the coming calendar year. So, if you became a member on or
before December 31, 2009, your dues should be mailed by the middle
of December, 2010, to be sure it is received in time. If you became
a member sometime in 2010, then your membership is not due until
December 31, 2011.
