Charis Membership

We at Charis are extremely grateful for our wonderful members.  This past year, your dues have made it financially possible for us to creatively correspond with people in areas of the world where internet is spotty at best.  Having all forms of communication available for us is essential if we are going to successfully train birth professionals in the far reaches of the earth.  As our community of members grows, there will be more funds available for even more world-impacting outreach. Thank you!

Membership is due every December 31 for the coming calendar year.  So, if you became a member on or before December 31, 2015, your dues should be mailed by the middle of December, 2016, to be sure it is received in time.  If you become a member sometime in 2016, then your membership renewal is not due until December 31, 2017.

Our Director's Heart

It's a BOY!!!

Momma has worked hard through labor and birth, emotions are at a climax, and everyone eagerly anticipates the long-awaited revealing of the sweet secret. That moment of discovery, when baby is cradled in its mother's arms for the very first time and Daddy announces whether he has a boy or girl, is one of the most thrilling moments in life. When that baby, who has been delivered by its strong momma into your hands, is your very own grand baby, the thrill of that moment is even greater.

I had the privilege of serving as my daughter Joy's midwife this year and, on October 10 at 1:59 a.m., after a beautiful labor, that perfect baby was water born peacefully and safely at home. My son-in-law Mark noticed immediately that his gut feeling all along was correct; he has a son! Oliver Mason Wheat weighed 8 pounds, 5 ounces, at birth and is the sweetest little guy. I'm extremely proud of Joy and the amazing mother she is. I have always known that she had a mother's heart, but to see how tenderly and attentively she cares for her baby blesses me beyond words.
