Maidens by His Design Workshops

Young girls today often do not receive a Christian perspective on their coming - of - age cycle. Mothers sometimes do not realize how they can place a Christian view on such an event in a girl's life. In this workshop, mothers and daughters learn together about this topic, educating themselves and sparking useful conversation between them about God's design for women.

The next workshop is in Vienna, Virginia.
Oct. 27 & Nov. 3 – from 1:00-5:00 pm.
Doran will teach the whole course in two Saturdays.
View the Flyer  and register  online at: www.blessinggodsway.com

Workshop Update

Our annual Doula Workshop was Saturday, August 11, and we had a GREAT time! We thoroughly enjoyed reconnecting with old friends and absolutely loved making some new ones. Everyone took home with them new skills & tools and more confidence in serving laboring women. The next Charis workshop will be the Teaching Birth Workshop (formerly Childbirth Educator Workshop) in April of 2008. The exact date and more details will be coming soon.

A Valuable Gift for our Children

Todd and Kristin Schuchmann
Todd & Kristin Schuchmann, March 26, 1994

As parents, one of the most valuable gifts we can give our children is the time and effort we put into strengthening our marriage. Everything we do to be excellent husbands and wives, we do as much for our children as we do for our spouse. All the loving, serving, giving, dying to self, etc. that we do for each other, will have a powerful impact on our children now and for the rest of their lives. When parents have a healthy marriage, children are secure.

One small thing Todd and I do for our marriage is to spend time together without the children at least once a week. We have chosen to set aside Friday night as our date night. Joy, Joel, & Rose practically shove us out the door when Todd gets home from work on Fridays. They love Mommy and Daddy spending time together, just the two of us. They think we are the cutest couple around! Our girls usually have ideas for how we can spend a romantic evening together. (Girls sure do love planning, don’t they!?!) Lately, we have been going to a different beach in southwest Florida each week to walk and talk and watch the sunset. Sometimes we get a bite out at Thai Bistro before hitting the beach. We don’t spend a lot of money, we just LOVE being together.

Even the best of marriages require hard work to keep them strong and healthy! Going out on dates together is important, but it is the easy part. The hardest part is allowing God to do the work on the inside of us so we can become the person that it takes for our marriage to be fulfilling. Here’s a secret I learned from my husband: If you completely lay down your life-- all your hopes, dreams, desires, needs, etc-- and live to see your spouse fulfilled in life, God will take care of your hopes, dreams, desires, needs, etc. And if you are trusting GOD to take care of you, you will be fulfilled in life.

Last month you got to “meet” my husband Todd through the first in his series of articles “The Secret Power behind the Childbirth Professional”. The series really could be called “Marriage 101” because he will be talking about things that can strengthen EVERY marriage, regardless of our occupations. Husbands and wives alike will benefit greatly from applying the principles he will be sharing over the coming months. So, I encourage EVERYONE, even our single readers, to take time each month to enjoy Todd’s article. You will be so blessed!!!!!!!

Love,

Kristin

'Behold, I will bring them from the north country, And gather them from the ends of the earth,
Among  them the blind and the lame, The woman with child and The one who labors with child,  together,
A great throng shall return there...And My people shall be satisfied with My goodness, says the LORD.'
