Have you ever had an idea or a
dream that seemed way too big for you to accomplish? Or, have you
ever not allowed yourself to dream big because
of the limitations you have imagined? Have you ever looked at
people who do dream big and who seem to make things happen and
thought to yourself, 'What do they have that I don't have?' Are
you now wondering what this has to do with pregnancy, birth, and
babies? Well, I believe it is relevant during every season of our
lives. Read on and I'll explain.
The greatest dreamer of all is
God himself. If you doubt that, just look at His creation. I
believe that God also puts ideas and dreams in the hearts of His
children (you and me!). I also believe that when He gives us
those ideas and dreams, He gives us everything we need to see
those things come to pass. God sees past our own limitations and
sees how much we can accomplish with His help. I believe one
difference between those who seem to accomplish so much and those
who don't is BELIEF.
It is no accident that YOU are
reading this today. Perhaps you have a dream on which you have
nearly given up. Or maybe you closed the part of your heart that
wants to dream big because you don't want to risk disappointment.
Your dream could be to have a home birth practice- in a
state where midwifery is not currently legal... or to open a home
for unwed mothers... or to have a vaginal birth after having a
C-section... or to be able to breastfeed triplets... or to be able
to serve childbearing families as a missionary in a country where
women are, at best, disregarded... or maybe your dream has nothing
to do with pregnancy, birth, or babies; but it is so big and so
wonderful that you are afraid to hope for it.
I want to encourage you today to
go ahead and open your heart and DREAM and BELIEVE! God has
a purpose and plan for your life!!! He cares about every
detail and desires even more than you do that the ideas and dreams
He has placed in your heart will come to pass. Open your
mind to the ideas He will give you to help make it happen.
Be willing to grow and change as He molds you into the person your
dream needs to carry it to fruition. There is no place in
life more fulfilling than the center of God's will!
Charis
Childbirth Services would not exist if I hadn't opened myself up
to the dream and BELIEVED... and then allowed God to work in and
through me to make it happen. The dream is continuing to
grow... all because of YOU. Charis exists to see people's
dreams and ideas concerning pregnancy, birth, and babies come to
pass. I love all of you and am so blessed to have you in my
life!!!
Keep
dreaming and believing!

" Life
and death decisions
are part of
daily challenges here at the
Care Net Resource Pregnancy Centers.
To that end, I must lean both on the promptings of the Holy Spirit
and the excellent training I've received to confront and comfort
those who wrestle with an unplanned pregnancy."
"My training
highlight is the Charis Childbirth Education through which I
subsequently became a certified Doula & Childbirth Educator. The
training I have received through Charis has equipped me not only to
teach the young women God brings to me all about their pregnancy,
and how to labor successfully, but also to prepare them for their
birth experience and their role as a new mother. Oftentimes I may be
her sole support the day she goes into labor. Through the Lord's
leading and guiding and my education through Charis, I can bring her
physical and emotional comfort and support…what an awesome
assignment!"
Karen is a vibrant and
energetic woman of God. Her warm, compassionate, and caring spirit
connects rapidly to those she serves. Since 1992, Karen has mentored
and guided pregnant teens in various capacities. These experiences
led her to a staff position at the Care Net Resource Pregnancy
Centers in 2000, where she currently serves as Center Director in
Hampton, VA. She has completed her studies through Charis and is now
a certified Charis Childbirth Educator/Doula. Her education has
equipped her to effectively serve the young teens and women in
crisis pregnancies through counseling, mentoring, and preparing them
for their birth experience.
Karen has been
married to her high school sweetheart, Robert, for over 31 years.
She is the mother of three wonderful sons: Kenton (30), Billy (27),
and Michael (24), and three precious grandchildren.
