Multiplication
It was
so awesome in last month’s newsletter, Kristin wrote about
multiplication. Not only is this so close to my own
heart and a goal I work hard to shape my ministry around, but it’s
also something that God has recently put in my path in a more
unexpected way. It sure makes my job easy when he just plops
things…or in this case, people, right in my lap. (= All I have
to do then is obey!
Just a couple months ago He connected me with two lovely young
ladies who have hearts for the world and for impacting it in some
way or another with health care. One of them is a pre-med
student with a broad worldview and a passion to experience as much
life as possible and to make it count by helping others. The
other young lady just finished YWAM’s Discipleship Training School
and believes God is calling her to midwifery in the developing
world. She found me through Charis’ website! (= They are
pretty much polar opposites from one another, but that means they
end up complimenting each other so nicely and in an area where one
is weak the other is strong and visa versa. Isn’t the body of
Christ awesome!? And as different as they are, it is easy to
see God has such extraordinary plans for each of them.

We
returned to Kenya the beginning of May after 2 months in the U.S.
It was SO wonderful to get back to work and I feel like my passion
is totally renewed and my skills and confidence are growing and
improving. Even my Kiswahili seems to be better! I feel
so incredibly honored that God has entrusted me with these two
lovely young ladies and that I get to share my adventures and
experience with them. It’s also been a good exercise for me to
see everything anew, through their eyes, the way I think they must
see it compared to the desensitized eyes I unfortunately sometimes
catch myself looking through.

It’s
really exciting and encouraging to meet other vibrant young ladies
who God is also raising up and calling to make a change for mothers,
babies, families, and most importantly, His Kingdom. And I
love when He connects and intertwines His people, crossing their
paths to make an eternal difference. I’m still so amazed at
how God connected me with these girls and that they’re here! I
certainly didn’t go looking for this, but I’m so glad He did it.
In the 2 weeks we’ve been back so far, we’ve gotten to be a part of
4 births together and also went to the largest government hospital,
Kenyatta Hospital, to encourage and pray with pregnant women
who are “high risk” or having serious complications in their
pregnancy. We also handed out baby blankets, hats and onesies
to each of the mamas we talked with. One of the mamas spoke a
long, elaborate blessing over me and my family and it was all I
could do to keep from bursting in tears! What a beautiful
honor. In all this I am reminded of how desperately this
ministry, and a big, big change is needed! I am so humbled and
blessed to get to be a part of the change I know God can, and will
bring. And I thank all of you for being such an important part
of it all too!
With a heart overflowing,
